Like most people, Anne Allen wasn’t sure what she wanted to be when she grew up. Today, as Director of Client Services for HenkinSchultz, you could say she is the adult in the room when juggling her clients’ expectations and the work required of the HS team. But that doesn’t stop her from bringing her signature fun, playful attitude to the office.
What path did you take to enter the business of advertising and marketing?
I wasn’t completely sure what I wanted to do for a career, but I knew I liked to write and I liked working with people. When I took my first marketing class in college, that was it. I was hooked!
As Director of Client Services, tell us about what your role entails?
We won’t be successful if we don’t take good care of our clients. My role is to be the liaison between the client and the talented team at the agency to ensure we’re meeting and exceeding expectations.
You speak a lot about your large extended family. Any lessons there that you apply to your work as well?
I believe that you have to blur the lines between work life and home life. For me, if there aren’t hard lines drawn between the two, it makes all of the responsibilities of BOTH roles flow so much more seamlessly. In terms of what lessons on the homefront I can apply to the workplace, I would say the concepts of teamwork and of course, constant multitasking!
How do you refresh creatively or personally?
As a family, we are pontoon people. A day spent floating on the lake is so refreshing and invigorating to me. I’m also a big believer in lifelong learning – so I spend a lot of time reading business articles and staying informed of current trends and industry developments.
What do you find most rewarding about your role at HS?
In one word – people. Both the internal team and the clients we work with are a collection of interesting, smart and very funny people. It is a pleasure to come to work in an environment like that.
