A lot of businesses talk about culture and the importance of it. As a creative work environment, HS shares a few ways we work together to create an agency culture that just may be the place for you.

Can You Tell a Good Joke?

We do a lot of things to welcome new employees. In addition to meeting the team, getting the tour and all of the paperwork and benefit explanations, we love a good joke—or even a bad one.

A week or so into their start, every new member of our team is challenged to share a joke. This not only gives us all an opportunity for a good laugh—it helps give us a sense of your personality, too. And valuing personalities is part of what makes HS unique.

Join Our History of Silly Traditions

For over three decades, HS has created great work for our clients and their customers. That kind of history leads to innovations, and because of that we’ve built up quite an arsenal of silly traditions. We celebrate all kinds of milestones to break up the workday (just a little bit), including:

  • Celebrating birthdays with the most cringey version of “Happy Birthday” you may ever hear.
  • The World’s Shortest St. Paddy’s Day Parade.
  • Beers and beverages at Sioux Falls’ very own Crow Bar to celebrate our anniversary.
  • Summer and Winter Olympic competitions.
  • Song parodies and performances—oh the sweet tunes!
  • First Friday breakfasts—and a lot of potlucks in-between.

Professional Development? We got you.

Do you have a skill you’re wanting to develop? Or a professional group you wish to join? Let’s talk. We want our team to be involved, to not only grow our expertise and connections, but also help you grow as a professional and person.

What’s more, HS wants to utilize your full skill set. Every day is a unique project from a different client. This means variety in your professional development and the opportunity to learn about many different industries—you’ll help them grow as you grow.

Put Your Special Skills to Work

HS hires account people, designers, digital and media specialists and more. But those are just job roles. We understand that every employee brings other unique skills to the table.

Do you build things? Voice act? Draw great illustrations? Or love the challenge of planning an event? HS looks to put your skills to work in fun ways—for both our clients AND our office culture.

We empower our people to grow in the directions they want to grow and give them opportunities to practice those skills outside of their defined job roles. We want our team to succeed during their time at HS and throughout their entire career.

Half-Day Fridays

Time off for travel, leisure or just some family time is important to HS and our team. That’s why we structure our work week to include Friday afternoons off. Of course, we work pretty hard leading up to that—but nothing beats getting a jump on the weekend.

Does this culture seem like a fit for you? If so, we’d love to hear from you—HS is always looking to add to our team.

HearSay with Kewley and Bart, HS Dog Contributors

We love to talk to our HS family about what they bring to the workplace. And since our dogs are like family, too, we thought HearSay should spend a little time talking to our couple favorite four-legged friends. So Kewley, you’ve been a regular at HS for a long time. What keeps you coming back? I’m a rare breed that I LOVE to be in meetings. And if that meeting is in the Pomp Room with a few dropped snack crumbs, all the better. What’s a typical workday look like for you? Supervising comes very naturally to me. When my…
