HearSay with Tammy – Graphic Designer

HearSay with Tammy - Graphic Designer

What design challenges do you welcome or enjoy?

I think one of the challenges that brings me the most satisfaction is creating something awesome when there is minimal content or direction from our clients.

Sometimes our clients just don’t know what they want or can’t put it into words, and, more often than not, we nail it! But sometimes we get, “That’s not even close…by a longshot!” (Emphasized by Tammy’s famous laugh)

Besides design itself, what are some special skills you bring to your work?

I would have to say…proudly…that I’ve been known as “the office physician.”

This is probably because I watch a lot of medical reality shows and could probably do a vasectomy in an emergency.

I watched NipTuck and Botched and I always research all of my own symptoms. According to my research, I probably have liver cancer, kidney cancer, a brain tumor, gangrene, hypothyroidism, a torn knee…and more! When I have a little more time, I’ll binge-watch Dr. Pimple Popper. Also, I’ve been tempted to offer my services on a flight when necessary.

You go to the gym a lot. What’s your routine these days?

I have to work out to keep up with my chocolate intake. I do cardio, core and weights, and last year I was challenged to run the Avera 5K Race – my first ever. I’m going to brag here. Not only did I finish, but I was in the top half of the participants and 2nd in my age group. (OK, so there were only about 14 in my age group…but still). My favorite workout is biking around our awesome trails.

Since you love fashion, too. Give us a fashion rule that it’s OK to break OR embrace.

I do love fashion and trends and enjoy watching all the design challenge shows, like Making the Cut. It seems like today, anything goes. So I would say, embrace your own individual style and don’t be afraid to repurpose something old. Chances are, it’s in style again.

HearSay with Anne Allen

Like most people, Anne Allen wasn’t sure what she wanted to be when she grew up. Today, as Director of Client Services for HenkinSchultz, you could say she is the adult in the room when juggling her clients' expectations and the work required of the HS team. But that doesn’t stop her from bringing her signature fun, playful attitude to the office. What path did you take to enter the business of advertising and marketing?  I wasn't completely sure what I wanted to do for a career, but I knew I liked to write and I liked working with people.…

HS Celebrates 32 Years

It wouldn’t be HS without a party to celebrate. Yes, we work very hard and that’s why we’ve been around over three decades. But we know how to party, too. This September marks HS’s 32 years in business as a full service advertising agency serving Sioux Falls, the region, and clients across the country. Along the way, we’ve learned a few lessons. These are the lessons that have become our core values, the ones we lean on to best serve our clients. Adding Value to the Party One of the reasons we’ve been able to maintain 32 years in business…

HearSay with Jason – 21 Years and Counting

If you’ve spent any time working with Jason Jellis and his fellow HS Sign Shop team members, words like humble, talented, knowledgeable and hard-working quickly come to mind. Since Jason has been an integral part of HS for the last 21 years, we asked him how he thinks about his two plus decades here. It's been 21 years at HS, do you remember exactly what you were doing 21 years ago? Wow, 21 years! Time flies when you're having fun. Twenty-one years ago I was just starting to soak in all things HS and I sat next to Lynell and Tammy…
