What design challenges do you welcome or enjoy?
I think one of the challenges that brings me the most satisfaction is creating something awesome when there is minimal content or direction from our clients.
Sometimes our clients just don’t know what they want or can’t put it into words, and, more often than not, we nail it! But sometimes we get, “That’s not even close…by a longshot!” (Emphasized by Tammy’s famous laugh)
Besides design itself, what are some special skills you bring to your work?
I would have to say…proudly…that I’ve been known as “the office physician.”
This is probably because I watch a lot of medical reality shows and could probably do a vasectomy in an emergency.
I watched NipTuck and Botched and I always research all of my own symptoms. According to my research, I probably have liver cancer, kidney cancer, a brain tumor, gangrene, hypothyroidism, a torn knee…and more! When I have a little more time, I’ll binge-watch Dr. Pimple Popper. Also, I’ve been tempted to offer my services on a flight when necessary.
You go to the gym a lot. What’s your routine these days?
I have to work out to keep up with my chocolate intake. I do cardio, core and weights, and last year I was challenged to run the Avera 5K Race – my first ever. I’m going to brag here. Not only did I finish, but I was in the top half of the participants and 2nd in my age group. (OK, so there were only about 14 in my age group…but still). My favorite workout is biking around our awesome trails.
Since you love fashion, too. Give us a fashion rule that it’s OK to break OR embrace.
I do love fashion and trends and enjoy watching all the design challenge shows, like Making the Cut. It seems like today, anything goes. So I would say, embrace your own individual style and don’t be afraid to repurpose something old. Chances are, it’s in style again.
