Emily Sorenson Carries the Torch on All Things Digital Marketing
It’s fitting that we feature Emily Sorensen this time of year. Emily loves the Olympics and always carries the torch for all things digital at HenkinSchultz. And she never stops running.
Emily’s love of various bound planners, coordinated pen colors, and hunger for discovering new digital tools is well documented.
But how did her love of the Olympics come to be?
Emily LOVES the Olympic Games
“Like a lot of young girls, I was obsessed with the Nadia Comaneci movie. I think I probably watched it every day for a year or something. I’m sure my brothers remember being forced to watch it over and over,” says Emily.
Her love for the Olympics grew during the 1996 games in Atlanta. The women’s gymnastics team was amazing and Emily was able to watch all of the gymnastics events live in prime time.
“When Dominique Moceanu did her floor routine to the Devil Went Down to Georgia… I mean come on! That was amazing! The crowd was cheering so loudly that she couldn’t even hear the song,” says Emily.
Emily also cites Kerri Strug sticking the vault while injured and clinching the gold medal.
“There is something about the triumph of the human spirit that is demonstrated through the hard work of all these young athletes at the Olympics that just gets me every time,” says Emily. “I LOVE the Olympics and am already looking forward to 2022!”
A Love of Problem Solving, Too
Emily also loves solving problems. When a client comes to HS with a challenge, she takes it personally to find the answer. Never to blow her own horn, but just because that’s how she’s wired.
She can’t help it.
But that part of her eclectic personality helps clients a lot. While she tackles an endless amount of analytics reporting from month-to-month, she finds great joy in it.
“I really enjoy looking through data and getting lost in endless amounts of metrics and data points,” says Emily. “Then telling that story of what it means for a business owner and what we can do to make it better.”
Emily is quick to celebrate her digital team when talking. Under her guidance, she has helped grow our clients digital footprint exponentially.
“A great team – whether talking about just the digital crew or the agency as a whole – is really about finding the right skill sets and personalities, and leaning on those strengths to deliver the best every day.”
HS’s digital team tackles a variety of challenges every day, including:
- Digital planning and buying
- Programmatic and display advertising
- Organic and paid search
- Research
- Social media
- CRM platforms
- And more…
Emily adds, “That is the great thing about every part of HenkinSchultz–we may overlap in knowledge and skills, but we are all able to bring a unique perspective to projects we work on to make it work as a team.”
And speaking of teams, Emily was excited to cheer on Team USA this past month, even as she swims, “yogas,” and runs her own way to the medal board.
This 30th year of HS, we continue to cheer on Emily and celebrate her gold medal contributions.
