Ad of the Week: Those Dogs at Subaru

When you think of the typical Subaru driver, you may perhaps associate them with certain qualities: They shop at Whole Foods, wear brands like Patagonia and Teva, enjoy the outdoors (or at least pretend to) and bring their furry, slobbering friends along for rides. Subaru is not only embracing their stereotype, but they've taken it to a whole new level with their new ad campaign, Meet the Barkleys. And by whole new level, I actually mean whole new breed. The Barkleys are in fact a family of dogs. Subaru has long been known for its dog-friendly ways. But these dogs…

Ad of the Week: The year of YOU

This commercial is by far the front-runner of the year for me (granted Super Bowl is two weeks away, but that's here nor there). As marketing continues to evolve, TurboTax kills it by applying an emotional/personal message to this campaign directly targeted at the young demographic. (We kind of dig that stuff.) We are the people that maybe aren't sure how to handle all the new items added to our lives since we left college and the parent's nest. TurboTax does a great job of addressing all the little (or big) things that you should account for on your taxes.…

10 Ways to Light the Creative Spark

In the beginning, there was a blank screen. A piece of paper with no sketches. A brain without an idea. The creative process always begins in the void. Whether you're a sales strategist, business owner, marketing professional, graphic designer or a copywriter, you start with nothing but a goal. It's your job to determine the best strategy to go from nowhere to genius - or at least really good. This takes inspiration and a little creative perspiration. Oldipus Complex

Like many red-blooded Americans, I spent my Sunday afternoon watching Andy Dalton certify himself as the best worst starting quarterback in the NFL. Amidst the bevy of moments where Dalton did what Dalton does (interceptions, fumbles, red hair) - and Philip River's timeless bolo tie - I tuned out, instead opting to focus on a particularly intense QuizUp match up I was engaged in (untouchable in Logos, btw.) Despite my typically laser-like focus on such stimulating ventures, my eyes and brain were torn away from my iPhone screen by a delicate, slightly off-pitch voice angelically humming a song in my…

Ideas are the catalyst for all great products and businesses. But having something great to offer is only the beginning, and doesn't ensure your success. You have to build a brand and communicate your message to the right people at the right time. With any luck, the stars are also correctly aligned and 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - you have a successful launch. Creating the right conditions for a successful launch should begin long before you introduce your product or service to the marketplace. Let's assume you've done your homework and you know that there is a definite need…

2014 Marketing Wish List

With the New Year in full force, we decided to take some time and think about what we want to see more of this year in the Marketing industry. Being a full service-marketing agency we asked some of our people what they hope to see from brands and companies in 2014. 1.) See more Non-Traditional Marketing Marketing in general is such an amazing inspiration for me. You can do anything you want to, and get as creative as your head will take you - there are no limitations. Don't get into the same old same old "this is what we've always…
